Children explore language, mathematics, science, and cultural studies through meaningful and hands-on learning. They discover grammar, geography, fractions, measurement, multiplication, anatomy, the solar system, literacy, and so much more in ways that feel natural and exciting.

Daily Routine

Kindergarteners enjoy two purposeful work cycles each day. Their days are filled with individual and small-group lessons, hands-on learning with Montessori materials, and meaningful leadership opportunities as they gently guide younger classmates. Children also look forward to enriching experiences like field trips, science experiments, and cooking activities.

Classroom Experience

In our mixed-age Montessori classrooms, kindergarteners proudly step into their role as the oldest children, becoming gentle leaders and role models for their younger friends. Each child works at their own pace with beautifully prepared materials in a warm, nurturing environment that supports their curiosity and confidence.

About Our Montessori Kindergarten Program

1It's natural to wonder: Will my child be ready for first grade? Should I choose Montessori kindergarten or a public school program? You want a kindergarten experience that truly supports your child's growth, not just for next year, but for the many years ahead.

Our kindergarteners are our pride and joy, and this special year gives them the chance to shine. Our program is fully accredited by the Maryland State Department of Education, ensuring a high-quality, trusted Montessori experience. Instead of nap time, kindergarteners enjoy a meaningful second work cycle where they focus on rich language and math lessons, exploring concepts hands-on and at their own pace.

From Age 5 to 6: Child Development Support Through Montessori Kindergarten

Children who turn 5 years old before the end of October are eligible for our Montessori kindergarten program at both Baltimore locations. This year is a truly important stage in a child's development, a time when they begin to think more deeply, take on new responsibilities, and experience a growing sense of confidence and independence.

Growing Through Leadership

In our Montessori kindergarten program, children become the trusted leaders of their mixed-age classrooms, gaining confidence as they guide younger friends with kindness and patience. This leadership year strengthens their self-esteem, social skills, and sense of belonging, powerful foundations for the years ahead.

Building Life Skills & Independence (Practical Life)

Kindergarteners in our program take on meaningful Practical Life work such as preparing food, organizing materials, and caring for plants, which helps them grow in independence and responsibility. These hands-on experiences help children feel capable, confident, and proud of contributing to their classroom community.

Refining Thinking & Observation (Sensorial Development)

In our kindergarten classrooms, children refine their ability to compare, classify, and notice details through Sensorial materials that engage all their senses. This deeper awareness strengthens concentration and prepares them for more abstract work in math, reading, and science.

Strengthening the Mathematical Mind (Math Readiness)

Our kindergarteners explore math through hands-on Montessori materials that bring concepts like addition, subtraction, fractions, and early multiplication to life. By learning with concrete tools first, children build a joyful and lasting understanding of mathematical thinking.

Becoming Confident Readers & Communicators (Language Development)

In our kindergarten program, children grow into confident readers and writers through phonetic work, grammar lessons, writing practice, and rich vocabulary experiences. Montessori language materials make learning feel natural and exciting, encouraging children to express themselves with pride.

Exploring the World With Wonder (Cultural Studies, Art, Spanish, Yoga & Gardening)

Kindergarteners enjoy a rich cultural curriculum that includes geography, science, history, art, and music, along with Spanish lessons, yoga, and gardening. These meaningful experiences help children develop curiosity, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the world around them.

Developing Confidence Through Movement (Purposeful Movement)

We are so grateful for the incredible staff who have ALL been instrumental in our son's first school experience. The school itself is beautiful, clean, and spacious. The structured activities paired with his teacher's patience makes for the perfect environment for our boy. We noticed a positive behavioral difference in our speech delayed toddler after his first week. Before enrolling, we shopped around for months and are so thankful we came across this gem. His teachers Miss Keyona and Miss Brooke took the time in advance to ask us about his special interests and learning style and have made an amazing effort to remember and apply what we shared about him, while working with him to reach his social and developmental goals. Seeing my son get excited to go to school every morning affirms my confidence that we made the best choice!

I like the small size and that everyone knows my child’s name. It’s also well kept and clean. My child comes home happy, clean, and wants to go back the next day. He also learns a lot at school! We hear new words and phrases weekly 🙂

From the start, our experience with TBMC has been incredible and to be specific it has been because of the following: -The staff - every single staff member knows us and our child. They are in tune with each person, their family members, their routines, and they truly care about our well being as a whole. It did not take long at all to become accustomed in the parent-teacher relationship as they really make you feel at home from day one. -The structure of the classrooms - The placement of classrooms and different age groups being exposed to each other at strategic times is really great. It allows for the children to build on relationships with children within and outside their groups and it's made a difference in how our daughter socializes outside of school. -The classroom size - it's not overwhelming and truly gives our child space to learn, socialize, and be independent. -The Montessori style of teaching - seeing how my daughter has blossomed in such a short amount of time is in part the style of teaching, but also the commitment from the teachers. I see first hand how much she adores them and her trust in them is profound. They genuinely care and it shows.
